Faculty of Civil and Environmental Engineering of Gdansk University of Technology and the Polish Road Congress are pleased to invite you to the XIV International Road Safety Conference GAMBIT 2023 “New Decade – New Actions – New Technologies”,
which will be held on May 29-31, 2023 in Gdansk.
Event with simultaneous translation Polish/English.
The theme of the Conference will be the challenges and conditions for improving road safety in the coming decade 2023-2033,
and the audience will be representatives of scientific institutions, government, national and local road administration, police officers, firefighters, teachers, business and private companies.
Topics for this year’s Conference include the following:
• Global social changes as challenges for road safety
• Trends and good practices in the design of safe road infrastructure
• Proactive methods and tools for road safety management
• New technologies – threats and opportunities for improving road safety.
The conference will be held in a hybrid format, and the official languages will be Polish and English.
On the last day of the event, the PROJECT WORKSHOPS EuroS@P and InfRo@D will be held.
Road safety management methods and tools developed as part of the projects EuroS@P and InfRo@D
The aim of the workshop is to present the developed materials and methods, dedicated to the didactic process and training in the field of road safety management, and to obtain opinions on their quality and applicability.
The effect of the workshop will be to supplement knowledge and exchange experience in the field of road safety assessment at pedestrian crossings and in the vicinity of roads, identification of sources of hazards and threats and their classification with indication of corrective solutions.
The workshop will be divided into 2 topics:
- Road Safety Management at pedestrian crossings (EuroS@P project)
- Road safety management in the vicinity of roads (InfRo@D project)
In the first part of the meeting, issues related to the implementation of two EuroS@P projects – “European Road Safety Partnership and European Digital Education in Road Infrastructure Management InfRo@D” will be presented:
- The role of modern teaching and training materials in Road Infrastructure Safety Management
- A new approach used in the teaching process.
- Availability of materials using the e-learning platform.
- Scope of materials covered by the projects.
In the second part of the workshop, a selected issue related to road safety management at pedestrian crossings (EuroS@P) will be presented. It will include:
- Presentation of the updated methodology used in the safety assessment process at pedestrian crossings.
- Safety inspections at the pedestrian crossing (field exit)
- Analysis of the level of danger at pedestrian crossings (group work)
- Exchange of experiences between workshop participants.
In the third part of the workshop, a selected issue related to road safety management in the vicinity of roads will be presented (InfRo@D project). It will include:
- Presentation of the updated methodology used in the safety assessment process at pedestrian crossings.
- Assessment of road safety with the use of video materials.
- Analysis and assessment of the level of risk on a road section (group work)
- Exchange of experiences between workshop participants.

The aim of the workshop is to present the developed materials and methods dedicated to the didactic process and training in the field of road safety management and to obtain feedback on their quality and applicability.
The workshop will help to enhance knowledge and exchange experience regarding pedestrian crossings and roadside safety assessment, identifying sources of hazards and threats and their classification with an indication of countermeasures.
The workshop will be divided into two topics:
